NAEC Annual Meeting
More than 1,630 members registered for North Arkansas Electric Cooperative’s 77th Annual Meeting. Including members’ families, NAEC estimates 4,000 people attended the event at the Fulton County Fairgrounds on June 1, 2017.
Registration began at 2 p.m. Afternoon activities included inflatables for the children as well as bingo for all ages. Entertainment kicked off at 4 p.m. with performances by Billy Joe French and Friends, magician Scott Davis and Grammy-winning country group Shenandoah. Beginning at 4:15 p.m., attendees could get a plate of Corky’s barbecue with all the fixings served up by co-op employees.
During the business session, CEO Mel Coleman announced the Operation Round Up® scholarship recipients, recognized employees marking milestone years of service and gave an update on the co-op. (To read his speech, please click here to open a PDF.)
Also during the business session, Michael Dover was re-elected to a six-year term on the board of directors. He serves in the system-at-large position.
Following the business session, door prizes were drawn from registered members. Those present had the chance to win TVs, coffee makers, saws, wet/dry vacuums and more. James Ramsey of Gassville drove home with the biggest prize when he won the retired GMC Sierra service truck.
NAEC thanks all who attended and hopes to see you at the 2018 Annual Meeting. Each year, the meeting is a time to give your input on how business is being transacted and how operations are running. It also lets you vote on who will represent you and set policy on the board of directors. The votes and participation of our member-owners are what keep our cooperative locally controlled. Your opinion matters and is always welcome, whether it's at Annual Meeting or throughout the year.
